INDUSTRIAL & ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND
ISS starts from a research and evidence-based foundation. Trained in the literature and science of organizations, we apply the tools and knowledge of the trade for the benefit of our clients. This discipline is known as Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology.

I/O Psychology takes a “scientist-practitioner” approach, and the goal is to make use of research findings to improve workplaces, and to fold the experience gained in the field back into the sciences. I/O Psychology provides value working in all industries and often integrates with others in the fields of Organizational Development, Human Factors, and Social Behavior. Given that, we at ISS are concerned with how individuals behave in groups and how organizations function. Specifically, this looks like:

LEARN BY TRYING
The next piece in the ISS puzzle is the use of INTERACTORS to conceive, develop, test, and implement ideas for improving work or training skills. If the behavior involves working with a person or people, then INTERACTORS are the perfect simulation tool for developing it. INTERACTORS can provide realistic and usable feedback when interactions take place. Therefore, almost any interpersonal challenge – crucial conversations, negotiation, collaboration, leadership, and even just repeated practice at communicating and interacting with others – are easier and more effective when done with an INTERACTOR.

In addition, using an INTERACTOR provides the opportunity to try things safely, to get realistic feedback, and to develop ideas that eventually become applied in real life. This is what we mean by “learning by trying.”
